Ann Beegle Forms New Public Affairs Firm
Winning political strategist led successful Star-Spangled celebrations
Towson, MD (January 7, 2015)—
Ann Beegle announced today the formation of Ann Beegle, LLC, a new public affairs firm focused on helping organizations interface with government officials and the voters who elect them.
“The political landscape is shifting in Maryland. Over the past decade, electoral campaigns have become much more sophisticated and public policy campaigns are more layered. A single lobbyist or PR firm is not enough to influence important public policy decisions,” said Beegle. “I collaborate with professionals who understand this shift and that working smarter, not harder, involves building alliances, engaging voters and taking advantage of new media.”
With over twenty years experience in strategic communications, government relations, coalition building, as well as having successfully run some of the most difficult political campaigns in recent Maryland history, Beegle has the expertise to execute winning campaigns. Her firm will serve corporate, labor, philanthropic and issue advocacy groups at the state and local levels.
Beegle recently completed the successful celebration of the 200th anniversary of our national anthem. As Executive Director of Star-Spangled 200, Inc., she led a team of public and private stakeholders in the production of the multi-year commemoration’s signature events—Star-Spangled Sailabration
and Star-Spangled Spectacular
“Ann Beegle knows how to make big things happen--from producing a record-breaking fireworks display perfectly timed to a live, national television broadcast, to generating the corporate sponsorship and public funding to make it possible,” said Don Fry, President of the Greater Baltimore Committee and Chair of the Star-Spangled 200, Inc. board.
Prior to that, Beegle served as Chief of Staff to former Baltimore County Executive Jim Smith and Executive Director of the Maryland Democratic Party. “Ann Beegle excels at sorting through the clutter to come up with a clear and concise strategy,” said Jim Smith, former Maryland Department of Transportation Secretary and Baltimore County Executive. “She articulates the strategy, motivates others around it and then executes it.”
Beegle has also served with a wide variety of non-profit organizations, from the community-based Neighborhood Design Center to the premier pediatric care provider, Children’s National Medical System, primarily in development and executive leadership. She is an active or past member of the boards of Emerge Maryland, the National Aquarium in Baltimore, the Star-Spangled Banner Flag House and the Walters Art Museum.
“Ann Beegle is a straight-forward and strategic thinker. Her background and experience give her a unique perspective in finding common ground and influencing outcomes. She will be a real force in the field of public affairs,” stated Martha McKenna, Partner at McKenna Pihlaja and a longtime political operative who has worked alongside Beegle in politics and serves on the board of Emerge Maryland with her.
